Lake Superior metal
Here's a very handsome officers badge to the LSR. Reverse details (rivits, "P" stamp, lugs) suggest British manufacture, probably by Gaunt.
I have seen a few of these around over the years. Each & every one of these was mint; I have never seen one that exhibited the normal signs of wear. It's almost as if this pattern was never worn. Does anyone know any details re. the history & wear of these badges? My own poor theory, based only on the scarcity & condition of the surviving pieces, is that the regiment may have rejected a first delivery because of the spelling error in the motto. |

Nice badge Doug. Do you have an example of the other officer's issue for the LSR?

No, this is the only one I have. I'll concede, I didn't know there was another pattern, nor what it looks like. Can you post a picture Bill?

Hello Doug, I don't have an example, but a collector I knew in Thunder Bay, George Romiuck (? sp) had an extensive collection of Lake Superior Regiment badges, including several officers' badges. I have not heard from him in many years. He showed me pictures of his collection and I believe there were more than one type of LSR officer's badge.

To my knowledge it is is an interwar officer's pattern.

Hello David, Good to see you posting on the Forum.
Could you elaborate on the characteristics that would classify the badge as inter-war period? |
