Default Guards armoured variation?

Dear Forum

Can anybody help Identify the bottom pair of formation badges or are they just a colour variation? I have only previously seen Guards armoured in the colours shown at the top of my picture white on black with a red surround.

However the pair at the bottom are pale blue and definitely not just a faded washed out black.

Any ideas? Could it be a support arm attached to the Guards Armoured Division?

Thanks Paul

Paul. An intriguing idea but I have never heard of such a thing (although this practice did obtain in the Guards Division of WW1). I'm inclined to put it down to a glitch in the manufacturing process. Mike
