WW2 Straight SAAF Title
Hi Guys
It is amazing how wierd life works, it was just last week when I was moaning about not buying a cast straight SAAF title a few years back. Well I walked into a junk shop in the Cape Peninsular this week and the very first military item I saw was a "cast straight SAAF title" still with its homemade backing plate. Acquired it a a great price of R35 or +-2 pounds...! Brian |

badges and buses
Brian,
It is definitely true that there is a connection between waiting for a bus and collecting badges, you will probably see or be offered another in the next few weeks . . ! Rob |

Hi Brian,
I see you have made some nice finds. What 'junk stores' are you visiting in Cape Town, as I have not seen any of these items lately. I must be going to the wrong shops Steven |

I discovered a few "new ones" (wink wink say no more) the normal haunts have junk or are way overpriced to say the least. Worse still they price up the medals individually and the medal groups get split up, saw a lovely SANF group or should I say would have been.....the Atlantic Star and Burma Star had been sold off the day before I was there .......... The idiot buyer even left original paperwork behind I met your mate Leith Paxton, nice chap. Brian |

How true, hence I seldom really get upset over missing a badly needed badge when you have been in this business for long you know it will pop up sooner or later. I've sometimes had more than 10 year wait between buses. Brian |

wait . . !
Brian, in 1964 I decided I was only going to collect cap badges, so I took two cards of shoulder titles to an antique shop and sold them for £1.50.
There were several really good titles on those cards which included T/6/ESSEX, T/2/grenade/RF/CITYOFLONDON and AMR (Army motor Reserve), the first two I have replaced, but the AMR I am still waiting for . . ! Rob |

I picked up one of these straight titles on ebay about two weeks ago for £5.99, although it was lacking the backing plate. |

I actually had a bit of a laugh about it and told the "better half" the story of how we had only been discussing this self same shoulder title, only a few days before (of course she only listened with one ear and had her eyes on something more expensive ). Brian |

Something more expensive, does your wife collect helmet plates? Regards Frank Quote:
