Default New addition. Sterling R.A.C Beret/Cap badge.

A happy addition to my collection. Sterling marked Royal Armored Corps. 3 lugged reverse which I assume is for a beret? Correct me on this if wrong

Reverse pic shows the Sterling hallmarks. Doing are rough search it looks to be Birmingham (anchor) from 1941 (R). JRC&S maker, unsure who this might be.

It also has scratched in at bottom reverse of badge the name "R. Schauene", "spelling" as best I can make out. 47mm x 37mm. all input welcomed.
Best
Jack

Jack could the "C" be a "G" if so it could be JR Gaunt & Son, very nice badge.

What a gorgeous badge !

Two of the lugs being E/W, interesting ? and I agree with Malcolm, I'm certain it's Gaunt, a lovely item, thanks for showing it Jack !!

Thanks Fellas, Malc it is a G as best my old eyes and magnification can tell. Not sure why that did not dawn on me.

Appreciate the positive comments. Is there anyway to search the name scratched in or is that a bit of a stretch?

Best
Jack

Superb, text book example, getting harder to find these days and of course rather expensive too!

Arm badge, that never crossed my mind. Is it the size of the badge or 3 lug reverse that make it so.
Thanks
Jack

Jack,
Sorry the arm badge reference was an attempt at humour connected to another thread! It is 100% definitely a cap badge!

They really don't come any better than that, it is a superb badge, three silver lugs was the norm, they made really nice AAC and RTR too.
