Default Military Medal

On the basis of this information from an AB64 (Soldiers Service and Pay Book) that came to light in a distant relative's house clearance, is it possible to identify his regiment/corps?
1489887 John Llewellyn Williams 11 Sep 10
Enlist at Cardiff 5 Sep 39
Served British North African Forces from mid 1942 and was awarded the Military Medal - "Granted the Military Medal. Authority Appendix to Serial 168 Middle East General Orders List No 169 dated 6 Aug 43 and Middle East Forces Part 2 Order 84/1 dated 21 Sep 43"
The uncaptioned photograph was tucked in the back of the Paybook. The officer presenting the awards appears to be American Army.

Can anyone help with his JL Williams' regiment? Thanks. Mike

Thank you very much. I did check that his number was in the (very large) RA block allocation.

According to his London Entry for the MM 19/08/43 page 3723 issue 36138, he was a sergeant in the Royal Artillery.

Thanks very much. If his medals ever turn up in Wales, I have his AB64. His parents lived in Cowbridge, Glamorgan.

According to National Archives he was in 92/34 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery, which narrows it down a bit. Citation can be downloaded here:http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...s?uri=D7361871

Le,
Very many thanks - that narrows it down quite a lot! It must have been a pretty operational LAA Regt to afford the opportunity to be awarded the MM. 34 LAA Regt was formed at either Chepstow, Monmouthshire or Swansea, Glamorgan on 28 Aug 39 (65, 92 and 246 LAA Btys. To Suspended animation at HQ 22 LAA Bde on 23 Feb 45. On of the soldiers in the medal ceremony can just) be seen in the original print wearing an Eighth Army slip-on.
