Default RAN LS medals

Just requesting some advice....

I don't have an 2 WW period RAN Long Service medal in my collection but would like to obtain an example sometime,

so asking - are Service records available for members of the RAN, or RANR?

I am looking at a 2WW (Geo VI) RANR LS medal, the man's number is - W.224

Thanks in advance,

RCN Bryan

Default RAN

Hello Bryan, there are seven records on the WW2 Nominal Roll pertaining to the number 224 for the RAN.
Hope this helps
Phil.

Hello again Bryan, last post wasn't too clear. If you go to www.ww2roll.gov.au you can search the records by the service number or name, don't think this covers RANR though.
When you find what you want, you are able to print a certificate of service.
Good luck.
Phil.

Thanks Phil,

I appreciate you response & information very much!

I did as you recommended & was able to pull up his record & find he served from Aug 1941 to Feb 1946. During his service he had two numbers, presumably the 224 number was his RANR number.

He would have been entitled to some 2WW medals, perhaps one or more campaign star(s) & received the Australian War medal, which I understand is officially named?
