Default PPCLI Officer's Sterling Silver QC cap badge.

An officer's kit shop purchase sterling silver cap badge. Circa 1980's. The maker mark needs to be identified. Images coutesy of Marway Militaria.

I did do an ID for Jaimie on this. It is not OFFICER at all but a regiemntal purchase as a money maker aimed at the senior ncos I even bought one. THE OFFICER BADGE ALWAYS HAS A GOLD CENTRE unless this one does and is not seen in the pic.The proJect was a bust as the so called sterling was only a deep wash over copper which began to show through as they where worn and the sliders fell off. Definatly a collectors item now but not well accepted then.

Ah yes, I bought one too Paul. I also picked up a Ors version with the same markings on the back just the colours reversed. I'm not surprised that it wasn't really sterling, although they were advertised as such.

Hi Guys, yes the overlay is in brass, the flash must have washed it out. I'm surprised that a maker could produce a badge that is stamped STER with only a heavy wash, interesting point to ponder!

It is just like that flatware you buy now sterling silver coated. Unless you have a proper set of hallmarks in will not be pure silver FYI
Still this badge was a dud in sales so there was no second run of a limited first run making it a fairly scarce non tipical PPCLI badge series collectable.
