Default CDN Engineers patch USQUAM motto?

OK, Canadian Engineers I can figure out, but the big red 1? I couldn't find the motto anywhere either.

Thanks.

No. 1 Field Company, RCE comes to mind. "Usquam" translates as "Anywhere", a variant on the RA's "Ubique" ["Everywhere"].

I believe that 1 Field Coy is currently tasked as "1 [Air] Survey Company, RCE", which would tend to explain the translation. IOW, a fairly modern badge.

I think it is most likely a patch for 1 Construction Engineering Unit.

I agree, http://www.army.gc.ca/iaol/143000440...index-Eng.html.
Question is, what was the patch worn on? Is this a workdress patch? The beret badge of the unit is the Canadian Engineers badge?
Follow up, did the CE apply to have their "Royal" designation re-instated?

It doesn't say beret badge to me. At 2 5/8", it's rather tallish. It has the white cheesecloth backing with degraded glue/starchy overlay and a heavily merrowed edge. I'm thinking workdress jacket patch. Are we sure about the identificiation?

Thanks.

Perhaps a NCD jacket badge for a Navy member attached to the unit?
