Hi Bill, I've only ever seen one but do not have one. The design is the same as the ORs badge but the officers is gilted with screw posts. The overall construction seemed similar to the standard badge, it wasn't any heavier than the ORs badge, just a better finish. Aside from the screw posts, a dirty officers one would look the same as an ORs version.

Thanks Greg, Odd that the West Novies didn't have many officer's badges. Come to think of it, there don't seem to be any qc metal officers' badges around as well.

WNSR Officers currently wear bullion wire badges, can probably get photos of some, if desired.

Although I can't say for certain, I have a hunch that the preference for cloth over metal badges has existed for some time, which may explain away the apparent lack of Officer-pattern KC WNSR badges as well. I'll ask around to see if I can dig up any more "facts".

Morning Adam, I don't remember seeing any West Novies officers' bullion wire kc cap badges over the years. From your post, you are saying that the West Novies qc officers' cap badges are bullion wire?

Michael, nice, I remember seeing that one. I believe there was a similar example in a Hoare auction some years ago, will have to look.

Bill, yes all officers of the WNSR currently wear bullion wire badges on their berets. Many regiments seem to favour them, at least in Eastern Canada. I know the PLF, R NFLD R, 1NSH all wear bullion wire vs metal.

GO 188/1938 indicates that the officers' badges for the West Nova Scotia Regiment, all orders of dress are brass.

Hi Bill and all, resurrecting this thread as I was able to acquire a West Nova Scotia Regiment King's crown officers badge in a UK auction. It's a very nice example, frosted gilt and chased, semi-flat backed with tangs.

Cheers,

Greg

Greg, Could you post an image of the reverse? And, have you compared it to the OR's badges? Is it the same die?

Hi Bill, here is the link to my album with the requested photo. I'll have to dig out the ORs badge to make the comparison.

Regards,

Greg
