Field Gun Badges
I am at a lose as to who these two belong! Both are brass.
1. 2. Royal Pakistan Artillery, the missing mounted wheel has a star inside a crescent as the wheel hub. (Post #11, TY revdougal) 3. Your help will be much appreciated. Last edited by 54Bty; 09-02-22 at 05:27 PM. |

Uuuuuum,
Nice badges, nice puzzle. On No 1 the crown looks definitely Egyptian to me, and the gun badge shows distinct British influence. No 2 - well British based obviously but from where? No idea. Eddie |

For no.2 try ,Indian Mountain Artillery Regt. here.

Just added a third badge to the first post.
It is similar to badge 1 with the addition of a scroll with words. Up to Eddie now to tell us all what it says. Just the scroll hope it helps. The badge should have two lugs, but they have been removed, made by GAUNT. Last edited by 54Bty; 09-02-22 at 05:27 PM. |

Not field guns this time but grenades, one silver and one cast brass/bronze, both with an "Artillery" connection. I hope.

The first is the Arab Legion artillery. Scroll reads Al Jaysh Al Arabee = The Arab Army = Arab Legion. Mine is brass. Do you mean real silver, plate or WM. Some AL officers collars are at least silver plate.
Can't read the second, I'm not sure it's Arabic could be Urdu?. How does it compare with the top scroll on your British style gun badge? I.e. some local equivalent to Ubique? Eddie |

It has tarnished like silver does (only cleaned up the front) no hall mark, it could be plated. I will attempt to draw the writing on the second scroll.
The best I can do at the moment. Last edited by 54Bty; 09-02-22 at 05:27 PM. |

Some progress!!! But not much.
The scroll on your third gun badge reads quwaa midfiyia which simply means Artillery Force. Which we could have guessed! I think 1 & 3 are Egyptian Artillery pre 1953. Eddie |

I suspect the second badge belongs to the Royal Pakistan Artillery, but the mounted wheel is adrift. On becoming a republic in 1956 the crown was replaced by the gunner grenade; the script remained as before.

Eddie, I have the identical badge at No.1 and have been told that it was Libyan and the crown is that of King Idris1 when the United Kingdom of Libya came into being in 1951 The other that you remark on, I was informed, it is Jordanian, (see the difference in the crowns?). I do not have the badge but the matching collars (pictured elsewhere in this forum)

In addition, I believe that the inscription on the Pakistani badge, bottom scroll is in Urdu and is the same as the Indian Arty badges which is in English characters "Izzat O Iqbal" and that it roughly translates to our understanding of Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt"

Huum
I've been meaning to get back to you Artynut. Badges 1 and 3 are confirmed as Libyan from the brief period when King Idris was in charge. True the crowns are slightly different but they are both patterns used by Libya. 3 is definitely not Jordanian. |
