Parachute Instructor Wing
Would appreciate any info on this parachute training instructor wing. it's the usual RAF pattern but with a 5 point star above the parachute.
I've seen these described as "Senior" PTI but I'm not sure if such a wing was ever authorised or worn. Perhaps it's unofficial or prototype? (it hasn't been used). Alternatively, could it be British made for use Ghana? (their insignia often includes a 5 point star). then again, maybe its just a repro! Any info much appreciated. |

Parachute Jumping Instructor
David, your brevet is indeed from Ghana.
Bragg & Turner show an identical one in their "Parachute Badges and Insignia of the World" (1979), B&T 266, Plate 19. There's a small write-up on pp.73-74. In their "Parachute Wings" (1985) they show what appears to be a mess dress version with gold wire, B&T 1240, p.29. David |
