Default Is this a Congolese kepi ?

I have this rather fine looking cap , which looks to be French or Belgian. It sports an impressive gold bullion wire lion, which makes me think that it is Congolese. It has no markings. Can anyone identify and give some idea as to when this might have been worn ?
Many thanks
Mike
