Default Engineers - Tap and Die?

Hi Guys,

Anyone here have any engineering experience who could rethread a 7/16 bolt to M10X1.25?????? I'm happy to pay for postage etc. I just need 2/4 bolts rethreading for my car and don't have a tap and die set nor the knowledge of how to do it.

Any help appreciated guys,
Tom

Hi Tom, would be hard to do , as 10mm is 3/8, why not go online , or local and get the bolts you need, 1.25 is and standard metric pitch,................... or do you need bolts with a shoulder

All the Best Andrew

Ive been into the place i mentioned. I questioned them quite intensely and they all said that it cant be done and the only m10s you will find will be 1.5 pitch.

Sorry mate, I tried.

Default Thread inserts??

Have you considered fitting thread inserts and getting screws/bolts to fit?

Just a thought. Have you tried contacting 'old' motor cycle suppliers. From memory, M10 used to be available with 1.5 andd 1.25 thread..... I have an old Norton and a full set of taps and dies - Whit, BSF, BA, BSF and have been making up nuts, screws, bolts etc for a while. What has been suggested about using a helicoil etc also sounds sensible - depending on the location.
