unusual RAF PILOT WING WW2

This wing came in a lot from a Air Marshall BUT notice the background is blue not black .Can anyone say why this is and what uniform would this be worn on and what period in History does it fall between?

Many wings made in theatre are a little out of the ordinary and appear on differing backgrounds. Although unusual, I have seen similar before. He might well have served abroad and had them locally made (by hand rather than machine).

Additionally, the very first RAF uniform was a lighter blue, only in service for about a year before the switch to the more familiar blue grey.

I'd say they were early, possibly very early 1918/19 period to match the uniform, but probably more likely a little later. If you have details on the man it might help pin it down.
