Default Anyone know what these badges are?

Can anyone identify the badges worn on the pocket by this airman? They appear metal, the photo dated 194? (the last digit is badly stamped). I have seen religious badges worn on the tunic like this before, probably only for the photo.

Any ideas?

The badge on the left is IMO,the cap badge of the Troupes de Forteresse, Ligne Maginot (Fortress Troops of the Maginot Line).

Blimey! Thanks for those lightening quick answers, which I totally agree with. Now that begs the question, any idea why?

My best bet would be an RAF ground crew was based near the Maginot Line OR "visited" one of the fort and traded something with a French soldier for a cap badge..

.......or pehaps he is infact French ? former FRENCH army , served on the Maginot line in 1939-40 escaped to the UK after the fall of France and joined the RAF ?

regards Michael .
p.s if you look hard enough in the photo there appears to be the dark material edge to a RAF volunteers cloth shoulder title ` FRANCE ` ? the left edge of the badge is on angle if it were just a shoulder albatros the left edge would be cut straight and it appears too high for that as well ?

pleae shoot me down if ya think im mad ta
