Free Belgian Officers Bullion Cap Badge?
recently bought for peanuts, here in Italy: sold as a "Scottish regiment" badge, it looks like it were an officers version of the Free Belgian Army cap badge worsted in bullion on blue cloth: any evidences of such a pattern of cap badges has ever been in use? I have added for comparison a metal Free Belgian Army cap badge. Thank you in advance for your help and knowledge!

I've never seen a bullion version - bear in mind that the cap badge was used by many services in the army between about 1900 and 1980s! So I don't believe it is BAIUK...I'm not sure it is even belgian...
Nice 1944-5 cap badge on right though!

Thank you Bde Piron... I'm quite sure this is NOT a scottish badge as purported by the seller, and the shape of the lyons reminded much of the Free Belgian one, but I'm nevertheless very much puzzled: I'm glad you've appreciated the metal badge!

No problem! The "rampant lion" is quite common as a motif, but I'm sure you'll find the regiment in question!

Loupie,
I think you have to look in this direction..."belgian post war police badges." The badge I've posted is a police badge, not exactly the same but very simular to the one you have shown. The metal lion (cap badge) is post war, belgian made. Cheers, Marc |
