Just RAF blazer buttons ?
Just picked up 5 large and one small, flat, plated RAF kings crown buttons, they weigh a little more than is usual for blazer buttons and the large buttons are marked "J.R. Gaunt and Son Ltd,late Jennens,London"
Can anyone please confirm that they are just blazer button ? Thanks P.B.

By the looks of them they are wm.
I have similar, but made by Firmin on wm shanks, which came with brass "Exodus Hunt" buttons (also made by Firmin); all from my father. The (Royal) Exodus Hunt was largely run by the Iraq Levies (RAF), founded by 110 Coy S&T Corps about 1920. My father flew with the RAF in Mesopotamia, and rode with the Hunt(Jackal rather than Fox), and I assume these buttons were on split rings, so that a jacket (of whatever sort) was metal-free to go in the dhobi. |

Thanks Revdougal,
I dont think my buttons are white metal, if you look at the top right hand one in the photo you can see where the plating is wearing off. I wonder if anyone knows when Gaunt stopped using the "Late Jennens" mark ? The other thing that has occured to me is when did ex servicemen start to wear blazers with regimental buttons and wire embroidered badges ? Peter
