I fixed the link:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/brass-spitfire...item27bc851b35

It's two main tasks were aerial photography and hunting these elusive observer balloons.

The soldier who sat at the front and made that plane certainly had a vision. Hope he got promoted.

Shame we did not have such an awsome flying machine during the "Great" War, perhaps we would not have lost so many brave men!

My Great Grandfather may have been at abit of a loss if he was asked to help fix a Spitfire. Agree with Andy. Its sad that somebody is so ignorant of history.

What is the problem? It clearly states "Conflict: World War II (1939-1945)" on the listing. I think the WW1 trench art mention is just Generic for this type of brass item-Type: brass spitfire trench art 1914 war

We HAD the Spitfire in WW2 and lost many more pilots than in WW1 - a statistical fact. David

Listing has been edited. Title was originally WW1 Trenchart and description said from WW1 too. Saw the error of his listing or it was pointed out to him.

David,
I was thinking more of the men on the ground and the difference Air Superiority makes to a conflict!
