Default EAST LANCASHIRE PINBACK

Hi team. Just posted this in my Victorian/Edwardian album. A pin back with Gaunt plaque. But as you can see, the pin is missing. My question is, does anyone have a badge that has the same pin type hinge; so I can see to be able to make a new one. From what I can see, it's different in design to my other pin back's like my Tyneside's etc. I wanted to see how the pin was bent to go into the hinge.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Regards
Simon.

Simon, it's Edwardian (c.1901-03) and most probably had lug fittings, which have been replaced with a brooch clasp.. You'd be better off having it relugged rather than putting another brooch on it!

Simon,
it is well worth shipping them to Dave in Tamworth, he does great work and the turnaround time is good too, even to the Colonies

Yes, I have to contact him and get a quote etc, as I have a 5th lancers that AlanO said need the lugs taking off and the slider put back. As I said, I think I'll gang up a few and do a job lot.

By the way Andy, the gaunt plaque. A common thing for this period?

Simon.

Simon,
not common at all on a British ORs badge, they are more common on Officers badges and Commonwealth WW1 era badges in particular NZ items! Also RND badges.. nice to see it on this badge as it would indicate the plate was in use as far back as the early 1900s?

Yes, that's what I thought. A little different. I have one for the NZ, in my Colonial album. Glad I got the Lancs one, just have to get it fixed in time.

I was just reading on another page or two, and came across the comment on broached badges being possibly for a Mufti. Could this be the case on the one.

Simon.
