Hi Philip,
I think it was on about 6 months or a year ago. I didn't see it, but heard it was ok.

Hi Philip,
That's a new one for me. However a film about this great man would be fantastic! Would put all the Hollywood action heroes to shame!

My grandfather knew him well in the legal profession! Said he was a quiet gentle type! I don't think they'd ever had a drink together though!

I'll certainly keep an eye out !

John

John, Paddy must've been getting soft in his old age! From everything I've read he was often getting plastered, but really a gentle giant when not hitting the sauce. It would certainly make for an interesting movie, but is Liam Neeson big enough for the part? he's a good actor, Irish to boot, but it takes a great man to fill Paddy's shoes.

I wonder if anyone's ever thought of making a movie about Roy Farran. There was another colourful character, with a checkered history. Anyone read "Major Farran's Hat"? I must read it sometime. It's about how he was implicated in a murder in the Fifties; all to do with the Israeli situation, Irgun, Stern Gang etc. He became Attorney-General for Alberta and wrote a history of the Calgary Highlanders. He died just a couple of years ago. Somewhere I have a picture of him at a Remembrance Day parade, all decked out in his DSOs and MCs, and wearing his SAS beret.
