Didn't know where else to post this. What are the rules/guidelines for posting photographs. TIA.

How to post? Or what may be posted?

I guess what I should have asked is do I need to post my photos to a service like photobucket first or can I just add as an attachment. Also what about sizing and format. ie bitmap, jpeg etc. Hope this clears my question up abit. Thanks Bill.

Cheers Paul

You can add them as an attachment, jpeg, 750 pix max dimension 120k filesize is good, but the software will resize down stuff over this.

there is an upper max size (to save bandwidth*) of 16 meg - and yes people still try and upload images larger than this. - Would be ideal for a full size rendition of the Bayeux tapestry.

(*we get charged for stuff going up and coming down so we can't just leave size open ended.)

Im testing my other program that will be free to use and Free to download.

It might be ideal for posting photographs on the forum as it can be used to resize an image.

I use a simple idea of adding text to a picture by using a text file with the same name as the picture file. eg. 'k and k 2420.jpg' and 'k and k 2420.txt'.

Derrick.

Hi alco,

the program is as you said 'picture tailoring only' no install needed, just place the exe on your desktop and drop a folder or picture file on it to start.

you can use the picture file name as the text or have no text in any of the pictures you re size.

each picture is saved with the picture aspect ratio text added to it.
eg. 'k and k 2420.jpg' will be resized and saved as 'k and k 2420_10 x 8.jpg'

I hope that helps.

hi again

thanks for infos, Derrick
but something is out of my range :
=> where is the link to your picture handling program ?

(searching in your history, I discover that you propose elsewhere a real Database program ready for the management of a collection WITH pictures - something apparently not so easy to obtain even with msAccess ... do you have an evaluation version of this ? )

Hi alco,

Thanks fo the comments, you can Download the database Demo Version here : http://www.derrick_rowlands.talktalk.net

If you would like a copy of the free picture resizing program sned me a pm and I can email you the zip file as iv not setup the download link as yet.

When I get the link to work it will be in the same place as the above link.

I was also going to ask the forum administrator if I could post a link for the free software in the for sale section. (it is on my list of things to do)

Please note that the free picture resizing program has nothing to do with the database program and THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITH NO GUARANTEES OF ANY KIND! And it has only been tested in Windows XP and Vista.

Thanks
Derrick.

sorry for the delay in fixing the download for the free program,
I've just tried it and I downloaded the zip file to my desktop.

Hope it works for you now.

Derrick.

I am currently using Derricks free picture resizing program and once I got the hang of it it works quite well. I am running it on Windows 7 with no problem.

I am also using it on a W2K system - I had a few minor problems which Derrick sorted out for me - I also run it a (as a 'Briefcase') on a small notebook that uses XP and it appears to be ok. I have found it quite easy to use and its far better tp use than what I was trying to do with MSAccess.
Well done Derrick.
