Unknown Lovat Scouts Rosette Badge
Afternoon Gents,
Has anybody got any thoughts on this please? My first thoughts (hopes!) were maybe an Imperial Yeomanry badge from the Boer war era, as some of those badges had a rosette backing. But I think that was just wishful thinking on my part. The other thing I am struggling with is that the other Lovat Scouts badges I have seen have voided centres. Anyway your thoughts much appreciated. (Sizes: Diameter of Lovat badge = 25mm/Inch. Diameter of blue (outer) rosette = 80mm/3.25inch) Cheers Ian |

Hello Ian,
I don't know much about the rosette but I like the set up, as far as the badge is concerned, I would say it's OK, mine has been passed as fit, my other small version is voided but it has the ' Y ' and not the ' IY '......... Dave. |

Cheers Dave,
I had looked in K&K and Bloomer - but couldn't see an example of a non-voided badge, but of course that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just not shown. So it was nice to see yours and that is has been confirmed as ok. Ian |

Hi Ian,
Realise this is almost a decade late but only just see this thread. Sorry to contradict Dave C (RIP my friend) but I’m afraid your Lovat Scouts I.Y. badge is the common fake. The fake stag has a platypus bill for a mouth and 2 leafy branches on its head instead of horns. I’ve attached a picture of a genuine badge with the solid centre. Unfortunately I know less than nothing about rosettes so am unable to help with that. Regards, Luke |
