Default Queen's Gurkha Engineers Anodised Badges

A pair of anodised badges to the Queen's Gurkha Engineers in anodised aluminium maker marked F&S - each with two lugs N/S.

Are these a pair of collar badges or two cap badges? Does the cap badge always have a slider?

Hello GGA,
I have an a/a badge, this is a slidered version marked Firmin London. As to whether you have two cap badges or pair of collars am afraid I have no idea.
Regards Tony.

Thanks both, you can see the problem. Cap badge and collar badges are (apparently) of identical design from the front but could have slider = cap badge or single lug = collar badge or two lugs (as in my examples) = ?????

Bearing in mind that the Queen's Gurkha Signals, 6th Gurkha Rifles and 7th Gurkha Rifles cap badges seem only to be issued with lugs perhaps this is/was a Gurkha preference?

Default QGE

I have both slider and lugs badges aswell from various makers and in gold/silver and all silver colour.
Both hat and collar are the same and collars can be worn as hat badges

Hi Guys,
According to a collegue and former officer attached to QGE, originally collar dogs/ cap badge came out of the same box in the stores, it kept things nice and simple. the slider for the cap is a later & apparently unwanted addition.

The WM version is the early pattern. Prior to this they wore the RE grenade collar badge on a dark blue square on the 'hat felt gurkha'. Shoulder titles were black painted standard 'RE' titles

Thanks, that seems to solve the problem! Collar and cap badge the same design with two lugs and issued by the QM out of the same box!

GGA here's a post a/a improved metal badge, it is lugged but E/W rather than the N/S configuration of your a/a badge.
Regards Tony.
