Default LRDG Badge

Hi all, I have come across this LRDG badge on ebay and wondered what people thought?

Hello Overland, welcome to the Forum.
From your question, you are asking about the authenticity of the badge?

Not a good one I'm afraid.

Hi Albert, can you explain why? I see it doesn't have any of the more obvious signs of a copy... the letters are voided, no outer ring etc.
Thanks

The biggest problem is the tail touching the leg.

There are more eBay listings for this type lately...

Regards

Albert.

I thought I had read that there were examples of originals with the tail touching the leg, this forum had a thread where it was mentioned earlier this year:

Could be but this one is a fake imo.

Lets wait what other options are.

Albert.

It looks like it is being "dressed for sale" with supporting props. It is good theatre...

Take a look at the badge in this tread, note the "blob" below the G in LRDG.

Albert, that 'blob' in the second ebay badge looks very similar to this confirmed authentic badge from an NZ collector, on another forum:

It is difficult to see the difference.

Agreed, the blob looks the same...

I still do not like it, but lets wait what some of the real experts have to say about it.

regards,

Albert.
