Home Guard area patch/insignia confusion

Hi - I need help regarding an area shoulder insignia/patch on the Home Guard.

The area I am enquiring about is on the East coast of Yorkshire and in particular the 'North Riding Battalion Green Howards HG' region.

I have seen 2 differing patches "supposedly" from this area that are:
1/ NR = North Riding
2/ NRY = North Riding Yorkshire

Which of these is correct?

I am 95% sure that the NRY is correct - but - what about the NR? - If both are for the same area what's the reasoning behind having 2 different ones?

The only initials listed on the official HG list for North Riding are NRY. Would be interested to know the source of the information that NR was worn.

Jon thank you for your reply, I am glad you can confirm that NRY is indeed North Riding Yorkshire.

The 'NR' info was from a HG member of a re-enactment group who had that insignia on his uniform, when I asked which area was that from he informed me that is was 'North riding' - I was doubtful at the time but accepted his answer as I thought that someone wearing an insignia would have least known where it was from - but obviously not!

Is the Official HG area list - able to be downloaded?
