Default Could someone help identify the regiment?

Sorry not the best photograph. The cap badge appears to be a crown with something crossed underneath.

I remember, years ago, someone telling me that some local 'youths' were taking the Micky out of an old boy from the village. The old man did not say anything.

The person telling me this said that he spoke to the youths and told them that the old boy was a machine gunner in the First War and that he had literally killed more people than they had had hot dinners.

Unfortunately, he did not tell me their response.
