Small Australian collar badges
Hi Australian collectors,
Two small collar badges are puzzling me. When were they worn, and who by? Thanks, John |

I think I have answered my question.
Worn during WW2 by Australian Engineers. Cheers, John |

Hello John,
These collar badges were worn in brass from 1930 until 1940 by other ranks of both the Militia artillery and the Permanent and Militia elements of the engineers. In December 1939 they were directed to be blackened and in early 1942 their wear was abolished entirely. Between 1930 and 1933 this badge was also worn by other ranks of the artillery of the Permanent forces in brass. Keith |

Thank you very much for the detailed information. Surely these must be the smallest collar badges ever. Cheers, John |

Yes. I don't think there was any distinction between what was worn by RAA and RAE, might have just been a new die. G A Miller of Sydney was the supplier.
