Default Unidentified Insignia

Good Evening, I am new to forums so if I make a mistake let me know.

I have these two insignia which I have been unable to ID, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The wing I have been hanging onto in my collection since the 80's & suspect it has a former French colony feel (but could be totally wrong).

The second badge I think has a Saudi link except that I've never seen one with both the crossed sabers and anchors with the palm and crown together in my research.

Kind Regards,
D.

Hello Digger68, welcome to the Forum. Your account is active and open for posts.
The wing appears to be a mylar or bullion wire Canadian Parachute Qualification wing, for dress uniforms.

The design of the second badge makes me think it may have a Saudi navy connection.
Cheers,
Alex

Good Morning Bill A,

thank you for your suggestion.

It is bullion with a basket/square(?) hanging under a central star. Can you please supply a reference I could refer to as it is unlike any of my other Canadian wings or the examples shown in the reference books that I have.

Kind Regards,
D.

Hi Alex Rice,

thank you for your suggestion, I thought the same.

If you remove the anchors it becomes one of their Army hat badges or if you remove the crossed sabers it is a Navy one and I haven't been able to confirm if they have Marines unit.

Regards,
D

D,

Saudi definitely. possibly Marines. They have two 1500 man brigades of three battalions each.

Good Afternoon Mike Vee,

Thanks for the link,

Unfortunately after spending several hours a few times over the last couple of years I have not found an identical insignia even when using the official navy links referenced on this site.

Kind Regards,
D.

Bullion wings are private purchase tailor made. There is no one reference that covers all the possible variations that could exist. The remainder of the wing is typical Cdn design, with the maple leaf stylized. IF it is some other nation or some different qualification, I too would be interested in a reference.

I hope the rather droopy scimitars on the Saudi badge are not intended as a comment on those who wear the badge.
