Weird badge-metal detecting find from midsussex
I was metal detecting a field on one of my permissions near Haywards Heath, Midsussex, when I came across this cap badge.
The farmer tells me that during WW2 Canadian troops were camped in the vicinity, and indeed other members of the club who detect the land have found a range of badges/buttons/insignia: some Canadian, but also Buffs, Irish Rifles, General Service etc. A Bofors battery was located over on the other side of the farm. I have researched this badge and believe it to be a cap badge of the Emanuel School OTC. I presume this is quite a rare piece, as I can find no matches online. Would appreciate members thoughts! |
