Default Jewish Brigade Group question

I was wondering if someone could help here.

Its a Jewish Brigade Group sign - rather nice with bullion star, under a curious period plastic type cover, but with what looks like an arm of service stripe below. It came with the chaps medal group - Italy 39-45, War and Defence. Can anyone shed light on this, particularly the arm of service stripe(?) underneath. I'm presuming its faded artillery but was wondering if theres any other interpretation. Any thoughts gratefully accepted!

My guess would be Royal Artillery. But that is just a guess on my part.

I would also say Royal artillery. That's a really nice patch, I've only ever seen the red bar for battalion designation before.

Thats interesting Steve, and thanks - did each of the three battalions have a different bar or are you referring to a red arm of service tripe that all would have worn?

The red arm of service stripe would've indicated the senior infantry Battalion wouldn't it?

Could have done, and maybe they had one, two or three stripes depending on the battalion. That is pure speculation on my part as I’ve never noted an example.

The red stripe are for infantry battalion, the number of stripes defining the battalion.

While I was looking for an examples I also found what I think is catering corps.

Incredible stuff Steve! Absolutely superb examples you have there. Like I said, I've not seen the star as part of a combination before, and its a pleasure to see these. Thank you very much for sharing!

Hi Jon, unfortunately these are not mine, but trawled out of Google.

I have very little Jewish Brigade stuff but find it really interesting.

Steve.

I should add that the patch came with the individual's medal group to which were pinned these badges.

1st one denoting the 3rd Battalion I would say, and the second is unknown. Does anyone have thoughts on these two?

The second device is a "Decoration of Warriors" one, I used to have a few of these in my collection.

Interesting, that's the first time I've seen these on British medal ribbons as these are Israeli service pins. The State Warrior pin is normally seen on the War of Independence ribbon bar.

This is a good site for Israeli decorations, also covers Jewish Brigade and pre-State organizations.
