Default RTR Arm badge variation?

Hi all

Below is a an RTR arm badge variation.

It is printed on cloth and sewn to khaki wool.

Note there is a stitching to the reverse.

Would this be a WWII issued?

All opinions welcomed.

Phill

An interesting badge.

In my opinion not an issue item. I would suggest it was "locally" sourced and hand made. It also appears to have been repaired at some time.

I look forward to read the opinions of other forum members.

I think Keith has summed it up, I have a few of these RTR arm badges, but I have never seen anything like this, an interesting variation.

Watch out for others appearing . . !

Hi Rob

cheers

Hi Phill, someone has obviously taken care with it, though to the best of my knowledge there never was a shortage of arm badges and if there was, something like that would have been replaced when damaged. That makes me think it may have been a POW item and explain the care taken with it. Do you know anything of it's history? Hope this helps, Mike

Phil, very nice variation, Mike’s POW idea sounds particularly plausible. It looks like the black border has been inked in rather than printed, the way it seems to ‘bleed’ into the white material, looking at the badge closely does that seem possible?

Hi Mike

The arm badge came with a NZ title, I won it in a local auction down here. No story attached mere speculation.

Hi John

Yes Inked would be better accurate term.

I do think this is what we would call in the US collecting field "soldier modified" which could explain the individualistic approach.

What I don't get is the stitching on the back, could it mean something?

cheers for the input guys.

Phil
