Hello

It is not military but civilian livery as worn on the uniforms of some household staff of the nobility, landed gentry and so on.

Probably late Victorian/early Edwardian.

"C Clancy & Co Dublin" (and variations thereof) is a well known backmark for military and livery buttons. He was active from the early 19th century onwards. Some websites give a very specific date of 1817-1847 but I suspect he was in business for a lot longer than that. As with a lot of button backmarks, a bit of a mystery.

If your button is small or medium size (less than 20mm say) then the full address of the maker/retailer was not always given which may be why your button just says 'Clancy Dublin'.
