It is unusual isn’t it, but it is spot on.

Awsome find Kevin...... that is a corker. That is the double collar fluer-de-lys in the coronet .... here is one that is not as complete (the one that got away) and a converted. Yours has been x3 looped at a later date from the original x2 N/S...... note on the examples below that they are E/W x2 Blades top and looped badge below.

The very attractive regimental plaque on the memorial to the Anglo Boer War, perched upon Great Orme's Head.

Thanks for the heads up Frank, I’ll be sure to take a look when I’m next up there.
There’s a rather good Boer war memorial in Cardiff as well. Between the City Hall & the Law Courts on Edward Vll Ave.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,
I had this old postcard for many years, but, I'd never actually seen it, if you are going to venture up there, pick a nice day.
Regards Frank

If you go down, from the Head and make your way into the town hall, there is another, very handsome plaque, which shows all the Denbighshire Hussars from the town who served in South Africa.

Anyway, back to badges!

Frank,
Are you sure I should go down from the head? Have you been watching Debbie does Dowlais again (Merthyr film cooperative)?

Kevin

I had to "goggle" that.

Never mind, as I said in my last post, back to badges.

Hi All

Another great photo confirming the "end of War" DHY.

755 (DHY) 345201 (24RWF) Cpl. H M Smith and 632 (DHY) 345170 (24RWF) RSM Crinyion DCM

Both wearing polished brass POWFs (their old Bronzed brass badges) and their "DHY" Green/White shoulder flashes. The Green/White Pagri badge was a DHY badge worn in Egypt 1916, on the canal defences, prior to the 1917 Allenby order to form the 74th Yeomanry Division. So the 24th (DHY) Btn RWF continued its use 1917/18.

* Cpl smith is not wearing RWF shoulder titles.... it appears to be the Y/Denbigh brass title.
