Memories are made of this {SLR]
Hi Just thought i would send along a pictiure of the SLR cleaning kit and a few snaps from the training pamphlet, hope they bring some memories back.

Loved that weapon.... you knew that if you hit anything it would stay down Especially falling plate! How many of us have heard the "ding" of 5.56 and not seen the plate drop.

We sometimes rubbed our bullet tips against the checkered sides of our clasp knife; it created significant damage. A 2" wooden target post at 50 m range could easily be shot in half.

A huge fan of the SLR with lots of fond memories.
So much so I treated myself a couple of years ago and had a modern custom example built to my spec... Cheers, Roy.

I liked the SLR. A great battlefield weapon and reasonably soldier proof. I'm also a fan of the SA80 A2 though. I particularly like the extra 100 yards at battle sights. I know the SLR was equally effective at that range but there's a lovely tight feeling with the much shorter SA80. Nice to draw into the shoulder and easier to aim.
