Cheshire Yeo (10th KSLI?)
Hi All
A Cheshire Yeoman that, I believe, might be an end of WW1 photo. So this would be 10th (Shropshire Yeo & Cheshire Yeo) Btn KSLI, 74th Yeo Div. The cap badge is by Lambourne Co I think. The Shoulder title is interesting.... is it KSLI or is it an ECIY? The shoulder patch will be unique to the Battalion.... being a mix of the Two Yeomanry regimental colours? The buttons are just normal GS.

A great photo I saw on Twitter a few days ago undoubtedly showing the distinctive Lambourne made badge with the voids between the plumes.
These badges are found with the ‘& Co’ marking for those few doubting its existence or that Lambourne made WW1 badges. The first letter looks undoubtedly like an ‘E’ to me so I would suggest ECIY. I’ve seen several period photos of various Yeomanry wearing their respective old IY shoulder titles during WW1. Indeed Lambourne are marks are found on a few IY titles, all of which are in my personal belief of WW1 manufacture, albeit the whys and wherefores are a bit of a mystery to me. |
