Hi Dave,

The only things I can suggest are, to ditch Google Chrome, Restore your Computer to a date before you were experiencing these problems and update and run your security program (full scan).

I wasn't using Google Chrome but I carried out the other two steps and 'touch wood' everything seems to be ok at present.

To restore, type restore into the search box in the start menu and follow the instructions on the screen which should appear.

I hope that helps, other than that I'm afraid I'm at a loss as to what to advise.

Regards

Ry

This is all odd. I use Google Chrome as my browser, with no issues on any site. I had an issue a while back where random words were highlighted, and the odd add popping up (with the pop up blocker activated). I ran an updated scan on my computer using spybot, all good now.

In Montreal I am hard wired, at home I am wireless, no issues at all. I run AVG and AVIRA anti-virus. Personally I dislike Norton as I suffered an attack using it and the damned program took complete control of my system. In an attempt to resolve the issue at the time, norton dumped many many photos and files I had as being infected. I will never ever use Norton again.

Further on Norton, yes I understand it is the most widely used software out there, accordingly, any hacker worth his salt is going to work his virus around the Norton system.

Oh yes, I can't begin to understand why anybody would use anything other than a Mac. PC's suck!

Something I'm seriously going to consider the next time I am in the market, I've had two PCs killed by viruses prior to the one I'm running now and it has dawned on me at last that a Mac would probably make good economic sense.

As for Norton, it's the Devil I know, I suppose, although I am aware of its limitations

Hi Pylon 1357,

I didn't say Google Chrome was the problem, I said I use it and I am having problems with connecting to sites long enough to do anything, having said that, it doesn't mean a lot, I have a Ford Focus that has given me, up to now, little or no trouble in eleven years, I have a neighbour who hasn't been able to use his regularly because it is always in the garage ??

Back to the PC, last night I was told about a cleaning program which, at the moment, appears to have worked, so I think I am alright, until the next problem of course, incidentally, my PC was given to me by Malc Davey, when he heard that my other PC was on it's last legs, that sort of gesture doesn't happen every day and I will be, forever grateful but I guess that even Malc will agree this one is now probably running on fumes and I could do with an upgrade ??? I'll have a word with Kath.............................................. ..... incoming

Anyway, thanks lads, let's hope I'm back in business ???

Dave.

PS, Yes, I have just written and submitted this post and it went straight on ???

PPS, I spoke too soon, it's really playing up now, I can see the little red light fading, everyone say aahh !!!
