Default King's own- pagri or blazer badge?

I have the badge in the photo. It measures 4 1/4" x 3". It came with a note saying it was 'Harry Burdon's late father's regimental flash'.

A look in John Mollo's article in Formation Sign 146 records the following Khaki Foreign Helmet Embellishment:
The King's own Royal Regiment (Lancaster)
The 1929 Regulations give a blue cloth patch 3" x 2" embroidered in white 'KING'S OWN'. Photographs, however show this patch to have been rather longer in proportion. During the hirties a patch consisting of a dark blue rectangle with the regimental badge embroidered in white appears to have been worn on both types of helmet.

Mollo's sketch of the latter item is identical to my badge, but the colour isn't.

Have I got a blazer badge as I suspect, or a version of pagri, or bush hat badge?

Observations please.
Stephen.

Hi Stephen,
107th (Kings Own) RAC wore an arm badge in similar colouring, see image.
The Lions are both very different and the size of the badge.
I would suspect yours is a blazer badge due to the large size.

Hardly a definitive answer but the only photos I have of badges on sun helmets show the cap badge design in metal on a red backing.

Some great shots here from 1931, of the 2nd Bn's FSH badge being worn on the Wolseley pattern helmet - a curious mixture of greatcoats and sun hats:

The badge in metal (as mentioned above by Leigh), with two folds to the puggaree, the rear fold aligned on the '12 o’clock' seam of helmet, with the front seam being the '6 o’clock' position.
