Default More Scots Greys

Narrow winged cap badge made by Smith and Wright and by Gaunt London.
Did this come before the wider winged version ? Why was the design changed ?
Finally the wide winged version was also made at some point by Gaunt London too,question is was the die damaged ,lost ,stolen or if not somebody must have approved the change for wide to narrow or narrow to wide wings ?
