Was he wearing a scarlet covering, protecting the front of the tunic?

He would have had the same uniform as the others including the belt, but they wear a scarlet apron down their front, a bit like the leopard skin that Drummers wear. I assume its for uniform protection?
regards

It will be, and anodised aluminium buttons don't fare well against such brass ware and I suppose may scratches the instruments - are the Guards still wearing brass belt lockets or have they changed to anod al ones now?

HM appointed an officer from the RM as her Equerry at the tail-end of last year (which would tie in with the aiguillette he is wearing).

I watched it on YouTube last night and loved it. Highest respect for Her Majesty in our house!
One thing I noticed is that the Life Guards all rode black horses only and the Horse Guards (originally Oxford's Horse) a mix of black and brown. Terry |
