A general search shows that these clasps were used by police forces from the Victorian period onwards. May I now assume that the Canadian Nurse's cape origins is a Police cape? |

I don't think so. It is more likely they were modelled or copied from some imperial nursing service.

Jo, did you see Blackadders previous post? He linked several images that show the cap badge in wear.

Nursing Sisters collars?
Are these Nursing Sisters collars or officers RCAMS collars? The picture really doesn't show but the scroll is frosted silver.

Mike, with the pin backs, these have been attributed to Nursing officers.

Nurses of the CAMC/RCAMC have always worn the same badge as other CAMC/RCAMC officers: silver maple leaf with Geneva cross from 1901: gold wreath and crown with silver staff of Aesculapius and scroll from 1908.

It is the fastening device which differentiates the badges. Some RCAMC female badges have pin and hasp fasteners.

I find this very interesting, and I know it's an old thread. Looks like the Canadian Sisters/nurses wore the standard CAMC badge. Was the cap badge worn on both collar and cap - it looks like it form the pictures?
