Hi Rob, To some degree I think it depends on how you collect. If you are focused on making a collection of a particular regiment or region that spins it a bit. However, it is interesting that these three badges are all "county" battalions from Ontario.
My two cents, I have seen the 248th twice in the last two years. I haven't seen a 247th for years, the same for the 252nd. So, for me 247th, 252nd, and 248th.

Hello Bill!

I know people collect certain aspects of CEF as you have indicated.

I am trying to get a feel for the collectors that are going 1-260 bar none!

Those individuals are few and far between! These days! A Rare breed to say the least!

I am just interested in what the consensus is with the 3 mentioned above!

If the person feels thier is a rarer badge not mentioned above substaniate. I would like to hear the reasoning behind their opinion! For interest in the hobby!

Not to get off topic but those fake badges get more publicity than most of the real gems out there! Be aware but educate yourself share the wealth etc.

The sad truth is not all collectors will own 1-260 even if believing they will someday! Never mind varities! It gives us all hope! I know of someone who sold their collection because they couldn't get the 9th badge and had a very extensive collection! Corps badge included.

You have it heard yourself and probably said it! That's a rare badge! But how rare is rare? What defines rare? How scarce is scarce?

The badges I chose were hard to obtain! I have seen 252 in musuems and private collections! And one is in my grasp finally.

There are 3 varities of this badge!
Hardly anyone knows this because the badges RARELY come up! Charlton and Babins is incomplete / inaccurate at times!

Its been a long time since one has come up for auction and that was at a Hoare auction! Years ago!

Anyways I always appreciate your point of view and your opinion and knowledge!

I will send a PM because I believe you have more info than I can find on this! Than I do!

Cheers
Rob
