New Oman SSF stable belt buckle

I recently acquired a Sultan of Oman Special Forces Stable belt for my collection imagine my surprise when the buckle was gold toned not the silver I was expecting, after a few questions and a bit of poking around I found out the the colour had changed from silver to gold in 1988 can any one confirm this.
I’m also looking for a couple of items to add to my collection.
