Default British Army weapon safety poster

As part of my lockdown activities, I've been having a sort out and came across a few interesting original posters I have. The imagery on this poster is great. And its large . . .

Hope all doing well

Bess

Nice, I have a "collection" of posters, US War Bonds, Greek Cypriot "freedom movement", IRA and Ulster Loyalist, British Army weapons, East Timorese munition recognition (as in "these are grenades and mortar bombs, don't mistake them for scrap iron you can beat into a machete"), a mish mash of a few of this and a few of that.
Unfortunately I don't have the wall space to put any up in my man cave.

And that is the problem . . . wall space. This poster is big. I have a modest 'war room' with the attached at present . . . Soviet military poster, the art work on these things is so distinctive.

Yes, there was an Allan Graham Dixon programme on TV some while ago, he visited a Moscow archive full of such posters - just tucked away in drawers........

A couple of my posters:

What are the Cypriot examples you mention, are they all dated, or, datable to the emergency period, have you any British examples, warnings and the like?
A most interesting and quite a bloody time.

No, unfortunately, they date from the late 70's, post Turkish invasion "NATO This Is Your Fault" sort of thing.

Okay, but, those are still very nice indeed and I would have thought quite scarce these days too, they are still very much part of the story.
Did you souvenir them yourself?

I'll take that as a yes then, but, souveniring is a little (perhaps just a very little) different to misappropriation and I did use the word souvenir.

You can't use it against me, I wasn't cautioned.

Most of what I souvenired is Irish Republican and Loyalist, and British army posters re. weaponry and recognition.

These are both emotive and thought provoking. A great collection of striking images that seem to leap off the page. Have enjoyed studying them.
Cheers
James

I've always liked the simplicity of the "Belfast Brigade" poster (picked up on the Falls in 1976), if the AK was replaced with a SMLE it could be inviting the Bhoys to an appointment on the Somme 60 years earlier.

The "Ferret" and "Repression" posters came from Londonderry 1973-75.
The "Freedom 74" poster refers to the riots at "The Lazy K" - The Maze Prison, Long Kesh.

Saracen's a "Sarry - Can", the old Humber's a Pig.
I hadn't looked at these for a while, didn't pick up on the Ferret / Pig.

Somewhere I have more posters, hundreds of NI happy snaps, photos of parades, finds, bombings and other incidents, copies of "Visor" and "Search News"
