Officers Gilt badges
Hello Mufasa, I think the badge shown is an officers gilt badge of the second Dragoon Guards Queens Bays, I don't have that badge so I've shown this one, so you can see the different construction, die cast rather than die stamped. All the best Sean.

Officers badges
Hello Mufasa, not to sure myself obviously the badges are stronger when cast, or it might be the manufacturer uses the same mould to produce the badge in different materials, solid silver, silver plated, gilt and service dress (bronze). Cheers Sean.

The only one I like is the slidered k/c one witht the strengthening bar. The top lugged ones look a bit tinsley. The q/c one with a slider is ok and for some reason these were not voided but it wold be better if it was marked as most post war q/c badges seem to have been maker marked.

Number 1 and 2 look too new and shiny and I don not think that Number 2 should have lugs or have the holes in it.
Number 4 is good. Number 3 looks OK but I am not 100% sure about it as most badges of that date had the maker's name on the slider. Alan |

The firmin badge looks good but I have never seen a strengthening bar that long before. The short bar one is fine as well. i wold not worry about the slight differneces in design as the regiment wore the same style badge from 1901-1950s so there were several makers. For some reason the Q/C badges were not so well detailed as the k/c ones and were not voided so much in the lettering or at the end of the wreaths.
I will photgraph my 2 bagdes and post them. Alan |
