Default SA Railways and Harbours Rifles

Hi

Another recent acquisition, a SA Railways and Harbours Rifles cap and collar set. Another unit who's badges are not often seen. They are not to be confused with the WW2 SA Railways and Harbour Brigade. This is an earlier regiment.

Hi Brian,
Yes not easily found. The collars you have though are not R&HB but SA Railway Police collar badges of a senior official c.1930's to 1950's. There are pictures about of railway police officials at the Royal tour of 1947 wearing those collars.

The R&HB collars were of the coat-of-arms without the 'South African Railways' scroll.

The Railway Police collars you have are much rarer and harder to find than the R&HB collars.
