Default Large 'of' anodised Ayrshire Yeomanry

Hello
I've a couple of examples of the anodised Ayrshire Yeomanry cap badge, JR Gaunt, and the long necked Smith & Wright, both Have the small 'of'.
I've seen a large 'of' on a dealers list recently, I'm sure I've read somewhere to avoid this one as it's a fake, is this true please?
Your time and help are greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Chris

Chris

Not heard before that the large OF is a fake. I have attached pics of the one I have which I am quite happy with.

Yea, looks good Paddy, I don't know where I got that information from, but I swear I have seen it on the forum somewhere, I must be mistaken.
Firmin slider, large 'of', another to get!
Cheers Paddy, much appreciated.

Nothing wrong with a large 'Of' or the small 'of'. Just a question of age,if I recall correctly the Smith & Wright version had a small Of. This would have been an early anodised version.
Most of the other versions are large 'Of' ,there are also differences in the size of the Griffin thingy.

Gents, echoing Mike, nothing fake about the large 'of' its a die variation, mine is also a Firmin London.

Purely for interests sake, attached my A.Y. set.

Regards all

Bess

Thank you Bess for pictures.
Annoyingly I can only find one large aa 'of' badge for sale, but the dealer wants a small fortune for it!
All gold anodised collars, are these early ones or an error? Very interesting.
Cheers

Chris, as you are discovering, the large 'of' is a fairly scarce badge and unfortunately does command easy north of £50 - if you are fortunate enough to find one!

It would appear that Fimin London may be the only maker.
