Royal Engineers Balloon Section
Does anyone knows whether or not an insignia existed for the the Royal Engineers Balloon Section and or the 1911 to 1912 Royal Engineers Air Battalion (REAB); precursor the the RFC.
Thanks, Andrew |

There was a RE London Territorial Balloon Company. The shoulder title of T above RE above LONDON is shown in Ray Westlake's book on shoulder titles [photo number 535].

Royal Engineers Air battalion
As an ex RE and collector of British & Commonwealth Engineer Badges, I bought these Shoulder Titles a couple of years ago from an Auction out of curiosity, believing them to be fake,to research if anything like them had ever been worn They were sold as"Badges A/RE-Air Battalion/Royal Engineers 1911 unofficial shoulder title badges pre R.F.C" They have obviously been made up but as they are supposedly unofficial, does that make them fake?.Anyone got any ideas.

Those badges are not as they were originally manufactured and have been married together by a collector as a representation of an original.
