Signals trade
Did the Canadians use this signals canvas patch during WW2, I notice that there are pictures of British forces using this type of large canvas patch but I can not find any Canadians using it.

A yes and no answer to your question Mike. The economy patches and rank were available to all forces in the UK, but the Cdn army appears to have had enough worsted examples of the signals trade to supply the army needs. I have not seen a Cdn tunic with one in wear. But like the printed rank, these were likley available.

The same with the printed years of service, I have never seen a Canadian BD with the printed years of service.

Yes, agree with your observation. I have not seen the service chevrons on Cdn uniforms. Apparently the service chevrons were supplied to the Cdn army through the ordnance supply chain, and the worsted ones were likely sent overseas from Canadian makers.

Here are a few of my printed WWII trade badges in my collection. I wonder how many trade badges were made in the printed version.
I also have never seen a Canadian soldiers BD with printed trade badges or service chevrons. |

Simon, isn't the 'C' in a wreath the 'C' group trades which includes cooks, but is not exclusively a cook's badge? I may be wrong.

David,
Curly Gothic C is C trades whereas square C is Cooks regards

Simon, where did that distinction come from? Like David, I had the understanding that C was C group trades.
