Default LRDG Pith

Did anyone see the LRDG pith helmet sold at WARRINGTON & NORTHWICH AUCTION yesterday at 15:00hrs?
I might've been too bored for my own good and I won it during an idle moment between Netflix and the washing up.
Photos and details to follow upon arrival!

Kind Regards,
Sean

Sean,

the auction was just one huge mass of fake nonsense. Mentioned on here before
I suspect your purchase falls within my defination.

The LRDG badge on the helmet was a modern fake.

Hello Keith,
Did you get a look at it in person - or were you able to tell from the photograph on listing?

A damn shame. 99% of anything LRDG is fake, making it virtually un-collectable in my opinion.

I could tell from the auctioneers photos the badge was fake.

You could refuse to pay for the lot and send the auctioneer a link to this forum thread as the reason for not paying.

I sent payment by bank transfer in good faith once they sent out the invoice. I have also sent them a message since asking them to clarify their position if items are proved to be counterfeit. Their terms and conditions were either written by someone very clever - or by a child who jumbled up lots of words and threw them at the page.
We live, and learn. Luckily the hammer price was less than a good meal with a bottle of red........and The wife and I aren’t exactly dining out much these days!
I will see what the badge looks like up close and share here.

Kind regards
Sean

An original example of the badge would certainly be more likely to exceed the price of a very exceptional meal and bottle of wine these days, notwithstanding, if it was offered as original I would return it and require my money back.
