Moe..I,ll keep an eye for Officer's collars..they show up in these parts from time to time...the Bullion badge is only one of two I,ve ever seen....I thnk I read somewhere that they only had an order of 35-40 Caps from Hobson sometime in '42 I think....so Finding another Bullion Officers badge may prove challenging...M.

Thanks. I really like that patern. It is also interesting that we all have a variety of the printed title with the melton backing. Apparently the authorized printed pattern was not the title that the regiment wanted. Mike R, do you have any more on that question?

Nothing official Bill other than I,ve had a few Battledress to the unit and all of them including the one I still have(see above photo) have all had the black wool backing when a canvas title was used. Seems like a popular if not official practice with this unit. The English made version that James has shown here also shows up frequently on Hussars BD's including examples at Both the Elgin and former 1st Hussar's museums...
The black wool backing was also known to be used by soldiers of 1CACR with two BD'S observed by myself with wool backed titles and having had the titles like that as well.. I,ve asked 1st Hussars vets that live around here what they remember about such details, but to a man none could really recall any insignia trivialities that badge nerds such as us would find interesting.....One guy told me...Hey I just drove the bus.... |

That first badge is particularly interesting and very unique. It looks as though the red lettering is stitched through a canvas title? Is this correct? Beautiful piece of cloth/canvas. You wouldn't happen to have its double for sale would you? Cheers, James |

Hi James, Yes it is embroidered through the canvas title. You have seen it at St. Catherines, another example is in my traders. Looking for a trade on it.

Yes I remember it now. Now all I need to do is find something you don't already have to trade.

This is a great thread, I live two blocks from the Armoury where this regiment is located. I have a few badges I've collected over time, wouldn't mind finding some of the earlier examples. Here are some pics of some of those I have.

looks to be the same badge as the one at the top of this page, which is the First War era EM's cap badge.
